Led by Naomi Beard, Naomi Beard & Associates (NB&A) provides consulting and coaching services to attorneys and law firm executives nationally and internationally. As consultants, Naomi and her team work with their clients to enhance talent development initiatives and promote institutional growth. As professional coaches, the NB&A team helps executives fulfill their potential and guides attorneys in career transitions (outplacement).

As NB&A’s President and CEO, Naomi Beard has over ten years of experience as a professional consultant and coach to attorneys and law firm executives. She draws on her decade of experience as a practicing attorney to incorporate a deep understanding of law firm life into her work with clients. NB&A has helped legal professionals at all levels map satisfying paths to career success.

Education and Background
Naomi graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, Order of the Coif, in 1997. She earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, magna cum laude, in 1993.  She practiced law for nearly ten years with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP (Los Angeles; Washington DC) and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP (Washington, DC).

Naomi is a fully certified and credentialed coach and a member of the bars of California, Virginia, and Washington, DC bars. She is a frequent presenter at law firm and professional association events, and has been published in the New York Law Journal.

Eve D. Birnbaum, the founder and principal of Eve Birnbaum Associates, has had a successful career spanning more than 25 years in the global law firm industry. She is a former corporate partner of Winston & Strawn LLP, and former director at two other international firms. As the Legal Director of the corporate practice at Proskauer Rose LLP for 11 years, she oversaw professional development & training, evaluations & promotions, and recruiting, onboarding & outplacement for the corporate department worldwide. Eve also managed the work assignments for the 100+ attorneys in the practice. This gave her the unique opportunity to provide daily counseling to the associates and facilitate their career advancement. At Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, where Eve was Global Director of Legal Recruiting, she also served on the firmwide Diversity Committee and the Professional Development Committee. In that capacity, she oversaw firmwide attorney hiring, and created training and recruiting initiatives for women and other diverse populations.

Terri Mottershead is the founding Principal of Mottershead Consulting Change and Talent Development Strategists (www.mottersheadconsulting.com). Terri brings nearly three decades of experience on five different continents in management, international law practice, legal institution building, talent management, organizational development, stakeholder engagement and consensus building, legal education, and management training.

Consulting Experience

At Mottershead Consulting, she works internationally with law firms and law schools, providing consulting services, training and coaching in the areas of globalization and cultural competency, change management and transition, practice management and leadership, and competency-based talent, career and performance management.

Terri is an award-winning teacher, having delivered more than 100 invited presentations in more than 20 different countries. She is also the general editor of and a contributing author to The Art and Science of Strategic Talent Management In Law Firms(West, September 2010) and the author of The MC Blog (http://mottersheadconsultingblog.wordpress.com).

Education and Background

Before establishing her own consultancy, Terri worked in-house in attorney talent management in Asia and for AmLaw 100 law firms in the U.S., practiced law in Australia and Hong Kong, and worked in Hong Kong as a law school academic and consultant.

Terri holds a Bachelor of Laws (with honors) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, both from the Queensland Institute of Technology in Australia; a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland in Australia; and a Master of Business Administration (with distinction) from the University of Wales. She is also MBTI (APT Qualifying Training Program, 22-24 & 27 October 2003), MBTI Step II EIR and FIRO-B accredited.

Michael Souveroff is a skilled presentation skills coach who specializes in training lawyers and executives. He leads group training programs at law firms and offers individual coaching to professionals seeking to speak more effectively. Michael has helped develop and run in-house deposition and trial skills programs for top law firms. He provides public speaking training to professors and students at Fordham University Law School.

Michael received his Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Hofstra University. He then worked as a professional actor for 20 years, appearing under the name Michael Suvorov in Broadway and Off-Broadway productions with performers including Adam Arkin, Julie Hagerty, and Mercedes Ruehl.  He has also appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC, MTV, Lifetime Television, and the Sundance Film Channel.

Drawing on his 20 years of experience as a professional theater and television actor, Michael teaches professionals specific strategies for becoming more effective presenters and communicators. A polished and accessible presenter himself, Michael is an engaging and straightforward speaker.
