Why You Should Attend
As a mid-level or senior attorney, you likely spend significant time editing the work of junior colleagues. Rather than correcting the same mistakes over and over again, you need to provide feedback that teaches your junior colleagues to improve their own writing and produce stronger first drafts. By editing to teach, you maximize your own time and provide valuable training to those you supervise.
What You Will Learn
In this program, you will learn key strategies for getting the most out of the time you spend editing. By reviewing examples taken from legal documents, we will identify practical strategies for using the editing process to teach junior colleagues to eliminate their most frequent writing mistakes.
We will cover strategies for providing edits that help your junior colleagues become better writers, including:
- Developing a shared understanding of core writing strategies
- Identifying key areas of writer’s weakness
- Providing constructive, improvement-oriented critique
